We all use computer and most of us internet. It becomes better for an individual to know what a computer is and how it works. Lets start the discussion in series about this topic in detail. Today, we shall start with computer hardware things. Lets deal with the overview of hardware units of a computer.

Whenever the word "computer" is heard, the basic components coming to my mind at the instant is processor and memory. Processor is that component of a computer which processes all the data and computes the result. The next component is memory commonly known as RAM. The RAM is the memory which is required by processor to store temporary information. Other main devices are related with storage – The Hard Disk where you store all your data and information, the songs, movies, photos and all are stored on the hard disk only. All these are fixed on a main board or motherboard which synchronizes every device of the system.

Apart from these there are physically accessible hardwares like Monitors, Keyboard, mouse, joy stick, scanner, printer… We should not forget the secondary storage devices like CD, DVD, other new optical media like Blu Ray, HDDVD and also Portable hard disks, memory cards and many more.

All the information dealt above are a part of desktop computer. In case of Laptop Computer, all physically  accessible components are clubbed together to make the entire hardware very compact.
