Well, with my last article, you know about Shared, VPS and Dedicated hosting. Now, lets come to other classification within VPS or Dedicated hosting. The classification is based on factors like controlling the web server and hosted websites from very basic extent. These types of web hosting should be known when you are purchasing new web hosting account.
Managed web hosting is that where you will get the features of controlling different management of web server. If you want to have a control panel where you will be able to control the resource allotment for different sites, restarting server, installing scripts etc. And with this, you will get the support from the technical team of web hosting company. This would be beneficial when you don’t know different operations of web server in depth, this is the best Web Hosting for non experts. In this, you will deal with basic operations and you will have control panel which helps you in all operations. The support team will take care of things when there are any problems with your website/server.
Unmanaged web hosting is that where you will be the complete controller of the server. There will not be any cPanel or any other thing which helps you in getting the operation executed as easy as in managed web hosting. Here you need to be an expert webmaster in order to be able to control different operations and face problems and solve errors that may occur with server. This is not recommended for beginner webmasters as when a failure occurs, you may not be able to resolve the issue at the quick time.

One thing to keep in mind is that every provider has a different definition of what “managed” means when it comes to hosting. There are disreputable providers out there who will tell you that they are providing you with a managed hosting service, but when you read the fine print, you find out that what they will actually help you with is really quite limited – I’ve even seen plans were the “management” part was basically limited to free reboots on the server. Probably not quite what most people would expect.
So, when it comes to managed hosting, make sure you understand what kind of services are included (or specifically not included). Many hosts will help you with anything you request, but only for a specified amount of time – those are the management plans I tend to prefer.
