While I idiscuss about the latest technological matters, I find many of them have some misunderstandings and need clarifications on many things. One such related topic is about mobile broadband. Let us deal about the same today and have clear basic insight about what exactly is mobile broadband.

Mobile Broadband
It is the broadband which you can access on the go. This kind of internet connection does not require any wires, fixed line phones, routers, mobile phones etc. You can connect your computer / laptop to internet at any instant provided you are in the place which has mobile signals. The connection to internet is made with a USB modem / broadband dongle. This internet provides you with speeds of broadband and it should not be confused with GPRS nor it is accessible only at hotspots. You can access it anywhere you get mobile signals.
Prepaid Broadband
There are again two types in this: Pay as you go – where you will agree for short term contracts and hence not much investment and you can change your service provide as you wish. The other one is on contract basis – this is recommended for those who stay in urban places and not travel frequently. In this, you are going to get the connection for a long time and hence you should be careful while buying the new connection. These plans are mostly cheap and you may also get the broadband dongles for free with some plans. If you move frequently from place to place, opting for this would become useless when you go to places where you cannot find the related mobile network.
The problems you may encounter with mobile broadband are problem with connection mainly in rural areas where signals are not found. Even if you get a 2G network, you will find the mobile broadband connecting at a low speed. If you are in densely populated place, you may find the slowness in connection as many users will be using the internet and the bandwidth will be divided among all users.

This was a very useful post for me. I was always wondering about Mobile Broadband, but never went deep into this topic. But you clarified all my doubts. I have already bookmarked this page and would love to share this link with others. Thanks a lot and keep posting.
